I’ve been working for a few weeks on a site for one of my clients, and being this an online catalog, I need to be very careful on the codes, names and pictures of the product lines they handle. When designing, you need to have the information organized and ready to go. For example, you have all your images inside your images folder, but that doesn’t mean that inside the folder the files don’t need to be organized. Since there are 4 major divisions on the site, and inside each division at least 6 more, I’m naming the files and folders with a correlative number and product code, inside it’s own folder depending the division. For example:

  • 01-division01 (folder)
    • 01-subdivision01 (folder)
      • 01-productcode.jpeg (file)
  • 02-division02 (folder)
  • 03-division03 (folder)
  • 04-division04 (folder)

This might seem simple and not important at first glance, but trust me, with all the folders full of pictures, divisions, different products, data of each product, you’ll be thankful you’ve organized the images this way. It will help you get a better picture of the site and how much you’re working too!
